Service Overview

Tree Felling
In Plain English.

What It Is

Tree felling is the complete removal of a tree, either felled in one piece or dismantled in sections from the top down. The right method depends on the space, the target zones below, and the tree's condition.

Who It's For

Homeowners with dead, dying, dangerous or unwanted trees, developers clearing a plot, landlords removing overgrown stock, and anyone with a storm-damaged tree that can't be saved.

When You Need It

When a tree is dead, structurally unsound, diseased beyond recovery, in the wrong place, or about to fail. Don't wait for the storm.

Why It Matters

A wrongly-felled tree damages property, drops on power lines, or breaks fences. Sectional dismantling exists precisely because most trees can't be safely felled in one piece in a residential setting.

What Happens If You Wait

The Cost Of
Doing Nothing.

DIY felling is one of the most dangerous things you can attempt in a garden. Get it wrong and the tree goes where you didn't plan.

Risks Of Ignoring It

  • Tree falls the wrong way — across roofs, fences, vehicles or people.
  • Hung-up tree caught in another — impossible to safely free without proper kit.
  • Damaged underground services — drains, gas, water and BT cables run under most gardens.
  • TPO breach — felling a protected tree carries unlimited fines.

Common Mistakes Customers Make

  • ×Using a domestic chainsaw on anything over 6 inches diameter.
  • ×Not checking for a TPO or conservation area before starting.
  • ×Felling near power lines without a qualified team and the right notifications.

Ask Yours

How much does tree felling cost?

+

Every job is different — tree size, access and site conditions all affect price. We give free, no-obligation written estimates after a site visit, normally back within 24 hours. We work to a written quote based on the job, not a day rate. Payment by cash or bank transfer on completion — no deposits required.

What are your hours, and do you do emergencies?

+

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. We offer emergency call-outs for storm damage and dangerous trees, and the phone is answered outside normal working hours.

Are you qualified and insured?

+

NPTC qualified, holding CS30, CS31, CS32, CS38, CS39, CS40 and CS41 certificates. Fully insured through Arborisk — £5m public liability and £10m employers' liability cover. Evidence available on request.

What happens to the waste?

+

All of our by-product is recycled — turned into biomass energy and seasoned firewood, so nothing goes to landfill. On garden clearances we take all the waste away unless you'd like to keep any of the wood or woodchip.

Do you cover my area?

+

We cover Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, Northampton, Cambridge, Stevenage, Wellingborough, Huntingdon and the surrounding counties. If you're nearby, phone and ask.

Do I need permission to have a tree worked on?

+

Some trees are protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or sit in a conservation area. For TPO or conservation-area trees we can handle the council application on your behalf for a small fee, which is deducted from your bill if you go ahead with the work.

Do you carry out tree surveys or reports?

+

This isn't a service we currently offer.
