Service Overview

Tree Surgery
In Plain English.

What It Is

Tree surgery covers everything we do to keep trees safe, healthy and the right shape — climbing, rigging, pruning, dismantling, sectional felling and emergency work. It's careful, technical work that needs proper training and the right kit.

Who It's For

Homeowners with mature garden trees, landlords with overgrown plots, businesses with site safety duties, and anyone needing storm-damaged or unstable trees made safe.

When You Need It

When a tree is overgrown, leaning, damaged, dropping limbs, blocking light, threatening a structure, or simply needs an experienced eye to keep it healthy.

Why It Matters

Untrained crews damage the tree, the property and themselves. Proper arboriculture protects the tree's long-term health and your liability exposure.

What Happens If You Wait

The Cost Of
Doing Nothing.

Trees fail slowly, then suddenly. Cracks, deadwood and root damage sit there for years before the wrong storm brings half a crown down on a roof or a car.

Risks Of Ignoring It

  • Limb failure during high winds — structural damage and injury risk.
  • Disease spread (honey fungus, ash dieback) through bad pruning cuts.
  • Roots damaging drains, paving and foundations when ignored.
  • TPO breaches when work is carried out without checking the council first.

Common Mistakes Customers Make

  • ×Hiring a 'man with a chainsaw' on Facebook — no insurance, no training, no recourse.
  • ×Topping mature trees — kills the tree slowly and creates dangerous regrowth.
  • ×Waiting until after the storm to ask about the leaning tree.

Ask Yours

How much does tree surgery cost?

+

Every job is different — tree size, access and site conditions all affect price. We give free, no-obligation written estimates after a site visit, normally back within 24 hours. We work to a written quote based on the job, not a day rate. Payment by cash or bank transfer on completion — no deposits required.

What are your hours, and do you do emergencies?

+

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. We offer emergency call-outs for storm damage and dangerous trees, and the phone is answered outside normal working hours.

Are you qualified and insured?

+

NPTC qualified, holding CS30, CS31, CS32, CS38, CS39, CS40 and CS41 certificates. Fully insured through Arborisk — £5m public liability and £10m employers' liability cover. Evidence available on request.

What happens to the waste?

+

All of our by-product is recycled — turned into biomass energy and seasoned firewood, so nothing goes to landfill. On garden clearances we take all the waste away unless you'd like to keep any of the wood or woodchip.

Do you cover my area?

+

We cover Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, Northampton, Cambridge, Stevenage, Wellingborough, Huntingdon and the surrounding counties. If you're nearby, phone and ask.

Do I need permission to have a tree worked on?

+

Some trees are protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or sit in a conservation area. For TPO or conservation-area trees we can handle the council application on your behalf for a small fee, which is deducted from your bill if you go ahead with the work.

Do you carry out tree surveys or reports?

+

This isn't a service we currently offer.
